Arrive in Punta Arenas, Chile’s southernmost city and a historic port on the Strait of Magellan. Once a hub for explorers and sheep ranchers, today it serves as the main entry point to Patagonia. After checking into your hotel, explore at leisure. You might stroll along the waterfront promenade, visit Plaza de Armas with its iconic statue of Magellan, or explore the Nao Victoria Museum to see replicas of historic ships. In the evening, sample Patagonian specialties such as king crab or lamb roasted on a spit. This first night introduces you to Chile’s far south, setting the stage for the incredible landscapes to come.
