Best Time to Visit

Although it's quite popular to visit Jerez in July and August, these months can be very hot. You'll find the best weather during spring (April to June) or in early autumn (September). Jerez holds some popular festivals: Flamenco Festival in February, Jerez Horse Fair in May, and Jerez Sherry Festival in September. If you plan on visiting during these periods, remember to book in advance.

Passport & Visa

Citizens of European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries do not need a visa to enter Spain, only a valid ID. Many other countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Australia, and New Zealand, benefit from visa-free entry for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Visitors from visa-exempt countries must hold a valid passport and, starting in late 2025, will need to apply for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) authorisation online before travelling. For those requiring a visa, such as travellers from some Middle-East, African or Asian nations, a Schengen visa must be obtained prior to arrival. All travellers should ensure their passport is valid for at least three months beyond their intended stay.

Jerez Airport (XRY)

Stacked sherry barrels greet arrivals at Jerez Airport (XRY), which is located 8 kilometres northeast of the city. Buses, trains and taxis are available for transfers to and from Jerez outside the terminal building. Bus lines M-050, M-052 and M-053 connect the city to the airport. Tickets can be bought on the bus. The train journey to Jerez de La Frontera (train line C-1) takes approximately 9 minutes. You'll find a taxi rank outside the terminal building and the journey takes about 20 minutes.

Public Transport

The city's historic centre is small and sights are located within walking distance. A local bus service also operates in and outside Jerez de La Frontera, and the main bus station is located in the city centre, where you'll find detailed information about routes and timetables. Buses run to Cadiz, Seville, or to many of the picturesque pueblos blancos (white towns) and coastal towns. Frequent trains leave for Cadiz and Seville.

Spain’s power grid operates at 230 volts with a frequency of 50 Hz, using Type F (Schuko plug) and Type C (Europlug) outlets. Both types accept plugs with two round prongs, common across continental Europe.
